School Internet Blocks Cause Bigger Problems?

I just found out about a site based in Russia at CommunicationTube.com. The site offers a free service that allows you to use IM and other things all in one place in a web browser. This means that you can use a browser at school or the office to use IM even if the computer network you are using normally blocks them. While searching for more information on the site I found this page where other options for getting around blocks are discussed.

This kind of thing has been going on for some time now as kids pursue that which is forbidden. But what deeply disturbed me was the fact that here is a Russian site that does not identify itself in any way, that is getting people to provide them with their Gtalk and other account information which could then be used to access other accounts. Worse, any communications that goes through the Russian servers could be monitored and recorded. This could allow people to steal passwords, personal files, and anything else that is transmitted during an IM or chat session between friends. While there may be no risk from this site, the lack of advertising or fees, begs the question of why they are offering this service and how is it supported...???

So by blocking access to certain sites, we may be pushing people to practice unsafe computing.

Yeah, it sounds a lot like the "Wait until you are married" and the drug prohibition that has resulted in so many problems in Mexico and the US.

I heard on the radio yesterday that 10 million people have their identity stolen every year. I'm starting to think that number is vastly under-reported. The US is under attack and will suffer from the millions and millions of small cuts unless we beef up our education of the public on these types of issues...

Law Firm Growth Due To High Levels Of Client Loyalty

Client Experience Strategy Drives Law Firm Growth

Customer Research Center explores impact of client experience on loyalty and referral rates with Bagia & Associaties, a leading Philadelphia immigration law firm.

Philadelphia, PA, December 05, 2008 -- Maintaining growth momentum during this global economic downturn requires companies to maintain extraordinarily high levels of client loyalty. A leading factor in client retention, add-on business, and high quality referrals is the client experience provided by law firms during their initial contact with potential clients. The research partnership between the CRC and Bagia & Associates will examine these impacts over the next three months to identify best practices for small firms focused on maintaining and enhancing revenue growth.

Bagia & Associates and the Customer Research Center (CRC) launched the study to determine the impact of the client experience on both retention and referral rates in immigration law practices. The goal of this research partnership is to identify the key drivers of extraordinary client experiences within both prospect and client populations to determine which enhancements to existing processes help companies build client loyalty.

Bagia & Associates, an immigration law firm based in Philadelphia, sees fundamental research as a way to maintain a competitive edge in a difficult economic environment. Jay Bagia, the founder of Bagia & Associates, sees a critical need for a deeper understanding of client expectations. "We have always provided extraordinary service to our clients based on our intuitive understanding of the difficult emotional circumstances and complex legal problems many immigrants experience. Now, we want to move that to the next level and develop an in-depth, quantitative understanding."

"The first step in any process design effort, or marketing needs analysis, is to determine the underlying client expectations through a rigorous, statistically valid analysis," observes Steven Grant, CRC Managing Partner. "Unless you know what clients expect, and design a standard process to drive success, all the other improvements can fall short of their full impact."

The Customer Research Center, with offices in New York, Philadelphia, Stamford and New Jersey focuses on sales process optimization studies for the financial services industry. The partnership with Bagia & Associates represents their first foray into the legal industry and is expected to provide a rich source of benchmark data for future analyses.

Silent Killer of WWII American Veterans

LegalView Informs Mesothelioma Blog Readers with Details on Asbestos: Silent Killer of American Veterans Dating Back to World War II

LegalView informed mesothelioma blog readers of a silent killer of American soldiers and veterans besides traumatic brain injury (TBI).
Mesothelioma cancer has likely affected thousands of American veterans, even dating back to World War II navy veterans.

Denver, CO, August 17, 2008 -- LegalView, the most comprehensive legal resource available on the Internet, unveiled details of a "silent killer" of American veterans that dates back to World War II. Asbestos fibers and dust may have been silently killing veterans returning home from American-fought wars, and has long been overlooked, according to veteran and book author William S. Burton Sr. Currently, many scientists and researchers have deemed traumatic brain injury (TBI) to be the "signature injury" of the recent war, but veterans also suffer from mesothelioma cancer caused by the inhalation of asbestos.

According to Burton, veterans, especially navy veterans from World War II, have had difficulties proving their asbestos-induced conditions to the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). Veterans as well as those suffering from the cancer are encouraged to locate a mesothelioma law firm that can provide a plethora of experienced mesothelioma attorneys to choose from.

Mesothelioma cancer is caused by inhaling asbestos fibers, which were mined throughout the world in the 20th century. Tremolite, which is found in asbestos, caused fibers being inhaled to line the inside of the lung causing the deadly form of cancer that can spread to other parts of the body. While much is being done to find out about mesothelioma treatment, there are no known cures and very few treatments that can offer an increased survival rate. Veterans who suffer from this lung condition should seek medical attention and consult a mesothelioma attorney to learn about receiving medical disability and compensation claims for war-related conditions/illnesses.

For more on mesothelioma cancer visit LegalView's homepage. On this site, find several other various categories to navigate through and locate information on legal topics such as the faulty Zimmer Durom cup or the tendonitis-inducing Levaquin. Also learn the latest on the Viapro recall.

The failing Durom cup hip socket from Zimmer Holdings has stopped being manufactured while hundreds of physicians claim the Durom cup risks have caused failing hip components among some patients, which would likely be cause for an additional hip replacement surgery. The faulty hip socket has already been implanted into approximately 12,000 patients since the components release in 2006.

Levaquin, which is an antibiotic belonging to the fluoroquinolones drug group, was recently issued the harshest label possible by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The black box label is a warning for physicians that the drug includes serious side effects such as the increased risk of tendonitis or tendon rupture among patients. Individuals taking Levaquin are encouraged to contact a pharmaceutical attorney to learn about the details of a Levaquin class action lawsuit.

The ongoing complications associated with Viapro were discovered after an internal investigation and test by the FDA that found an undeclared ingredient in the drug. Viapro, which treats erectile dysfunction (ED) and sexual impotency, has been recalled, but patients may still suffer from the Viapro side effects. Those who are at risk are those also consuming medications containing nitrates, which can be found in high blood pressure, high cholesterol, heart disease and diabetes medications.

Popular Legal Services Now Live in Canada

Popular Legal Services That Was Only Previously Available to US Consumers is Now Live in Canada

The online legal service is now live in Canada. Find the right lawyer for your legal needs with lawyerahead.ca.

Toronto, Canada, August 21, 2008 -- Lawyerahead, Inc. has recently launched its popular legal services to Canadian Consumers. Now all Canadians seeking legal assistance whether it be to find a Personal Injury lawyer, DUI lawyer, Divorce lawyers or any other lawyers for their legal needs can go www.lawyerahead.ca and get the right legal help they need. The company has created a patent pending system that allows users to describe their legal needs on an online form prepared by lawyers, and based on the areas of practice, geographical region, budget, level of experience the consumer desires, Lawyerahead.ca matches the consumer with multiple lawyers for their legal needs. Consumers are then free to chose the lawyer of their liking to represent themselves in their unique legal needs.

In addition, they have created a unique social media network aimed at consumers that do not necessarily understand all the legal aspects of their own legal issue by connecting with others that have had previous experience in their area of law. By connecting with others with similar legal issues, lawyerahead.ca aims to narrow the gap of a consumers' knowledge in the area they are seeking legal assistance in. Lawyerahead's social network community has already grown in large since launch and consumers can now instantly find all the necessary help from other users within the community.

Lawyerahead.ca aims to cover the number of lawyers to users through an allocation chart for lawyers. Lawyerahead.ca currently only takes 5 applications per practice area per geographical region. Through this allocation chart, lawyers instantly know where the gap is between consumers looking for legal help with number of lawyers ready to service in area.

All in all, their patent pending system has already gained momentum in the Canadian legal market because of the ease of use for both lawyers and clients alike.
